The king sent R and G to England to have Hamlet killed but Hamlet was captured by the Pirates. Hamlet switched the letters and R and G were killed instead. Laertes is trying to get close to the king so he could be king next. The queen understands what Claudius has done. Laertes wants to kill Hamlet because the King has convinced him that Hamlet is the reason his father and sister are dead.
